The peephole in the fuselage for the camera is enlarged now to eliminate the shadow in the right of the pic. This time round I could not catch a thermal , and ended up taking lower altetude pics that show a bit more detail.

Here we have the packing house again , but from a better angle , in my opinion a better picture than the previous ones.

And a vineyard , also a bit better positioned than the previous attempts.

After my high altitude flight on Friday and nearly losing the plane it took me a while to gather the courage to fly again. This time I time I felt ready to try a flight with the Avistar in front of my house.

The road in out below my house is a bit on the narrow side for my limited experience, but you cannot become a real rc pilot without breaking some planes so I went for it. The pictures was not much good , but i did not expect much with the poor light. If you click on the pic to open a larger image you can make out me standing in the white road to the left of the bakkie.

Here is one closer up.

The best one I got of the river.

This picture is of my house taken from about 4 km away , I estimate the model to have been at 600m . The mountain peak in the middle stand about 240m above its surroundings.

I lost sight of the model twice , several seconds at a time , the second time i shut the throttle completely , but it still wouldnt come down . I paniced a bit at that stage , but after I trimmed the elevator for a bit nose down it slowly started to descend.
I finnished the the 14 minute flight with about 15 power left in the batery , so i must have had a lot of help from thermals.

The model is now ready , only the motor needs to be installed , just waiting for it to arrive.

Time fly's by when you are enjoying yourself. I originaly intended to post pictures as the building of my new model progresses, but the model is almost finnished and I haven't started.

Well , here goes.

Here I have finished the ailerons and are testing the operation.

The model is an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) , and very easy to build. Most of the work to be done is very simple , like below. The control rod is too high, the opining needs some work.

So use a home made tool of some kind , in this cas a cordless screwdriver a piece of irigation tube and drill bit.

Easy as that, and it is in place.
